Bamboo is a type of flowering plant that belongs to the grass family. There are almost 1500 species of bamboo. Bamboo is one of the most utilised plants on the planet because it is low maintenance and its cultivation doesn't require much effort.

Bamboo has a wide variety of uses. It is used in medicine, in the building industry, for the production of various woody objects such as bamboo watches, bamboo sunglasses, bamboo toothbrushes and bamboo handbags to name a few. It is even used as a delicious ingredient in numerous dishes.

Bamboo releases 30% more oxygen into the atmosphere and absorbs more carbon dioxide compared to other plants. Because of these features, bamboo greatly decreases amount of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere and cleans the air.

Bamboo has stronger structure than steel and it is widely used in the construction industry. Other than that, bamboo is used in the manufacture of floors, furniture, house walls, skateboards, bicycle frames, helmets, watches and of course bamboo sunglasses.

Bamboo is the fastest growing plant on the planet. It can grow 3 feet in height in 24 hours under appropriate climate conditions. Unlike other woody plants, bamboo reaches maturity after only 3 to 5 years. So it's an excellent way to replace plastic products whenever possible, for example bamboo sunglasses.

Each year humans throw away millions of sunglasses, without even thinking what kind of impact this will have on our environment. When Alice in Wonderland and Avatar screened in cinemas it was estimated that around 10 million pairs of plastic 3D glasses were distributed worldwide. Think how many 3D movies have been released since then.

The plastic they’re made of won’t break down in our lifetime. Nor within the lifetime of our children. Imagine that on a global scale.

Make the change to environmentally friendly bamboo sunglasses today and make a difference.
